What hardware do I need?

You need a computer to run HueForge, an FDM 3D printer that can pause for filament changes, and a few spools of filament. You can swap colors by hand; a multi-material system is optional.

Does membership include the HueForge software?

HueForge is separate software from its own maker. My HueForge Pro membership is the course, coaching, and member tools; it does not include the HueForge software.

Do I need any prior experience?

No prior HueForge experience is required. The course starts from the basics and builds your skills step by step. Having a 3D printer helps but isn't mandatory for the early modules.

Can I cancel my membership?

Yes, you can cancel anytime through Patreon. Course and tool access lasts until the end of your billing period. Selling permission ends when your membership is canceled.

Pro Tools (Early Access) is a browser toolkit of ten tools: Image Prep (upscale, crop, background removal, posterize and flatten in one flow), Palette Match, Compass, the Filament Library, Projects, Frame Studio, Puzzle Studio, SVG Convert, Text Studio, and the newest, Logo Chain Studio (alpha) — turning a flat logo into a print-in-place necklace. Every bit of image processing runs client-side, so your images never leave your machine. HueForge Pro only.

What is Frame Studio?

Frame Studio resizes my modular HueForge frame to whatever you just printed. Type in your print size — anywhere from 98 to 596 mm — pick a pocket depth for how thick the print is, and it hands you an STL that's already the right way up for the plate. It checks the fit against 32 printers before you slice. It also builds lithophane light boxes: the same frame with a box body fused onto the back, 26 to 130 mm front to back, printed as one part. Only the plain runs of the rail stretch when you resize, so the connectors and retention dots stay put — two frames of the same size always lock together, and the tool tells you when yours also keys to the standard sizes.

What is Puzzle Studio?

Puzzle Studio takes a HueForge you've already made and cuts it into an interlocking jigsaw. Drop in the 3MF, pick your piece count and the cut style — a clean grid, or an organic one where no two pieces match — and the colour schedule comes through untouched. Same footprint, same height, same filament swaps, just in pieces. It warns you when pieces get small enough to snap when handled, and exports as a 3MF, a single STL, a per-piece ZIP, or just the cutter if you'd rather do the boolean yourself. It's in beta while I dial the fit clearance in against test prints.

What is SVG Convert?

SVG Convert turns a PNG or JPEG into a clean, layered SVG — one group per colour, holes punched properly, no hairline seams between the layers. Drop an image in and it converts on its own. Take the combined file into any vector tool, or grab the per-colour zip when you want each layer as its own file. There's a straight-lines mode for anything that chokes on curves, and a file-size control that'll get it under 50 KB when you need it small. Beta.

What is Text Studio?

Text Studio puts a name, a price or a title onto a HueForge and tells you before you print whether the text is going to survive. It measures your letters in millimetres at your real print size and checks their brightness against the photo underneath, because HueForge builds from value, not colour. Two colours that look completely different can share a brightness, land on the same layer, and the text disappears. It exports a greyscale PNG that HueForge reads directly.

What is Logo Chain Studio?

Logo Chain Studio turns a flat logo into a print-in-place necklace — a multi-colour pendant fused straight onto a curb chain, exported as one Bambu-ready 3MF. It's brand new and still in alpha, so treat results as early: the chain family hasn't been through a full test-print pass yet.

Browsing is free — the Model Library shows every design I have released, no account needed. Master Maker and HueForge Pro members are licensed to sell my designs.

What is the Filament Index?

The Filament Index is a searchable database of filaments with verified Transmission Distance (TD) values for HueForge. It exists so you stop guessing TD and start printing with confidence. Every filament has a hex color swatch, material type, and either a TD value sourced from HueForge's filament library or a community-verified value contributed by members.

How are TD values verified?

There are two layers. Some filaments have authoritative TD values published by HueForge or the filament brand — those never change. Everything else is community-verified. For community data, the first three measurements on a filament are auto-accepted to build a baseline. After that, new submissions are compared against the community mean and anything more than 20% off is held for admin review. This keeps the data honest without requiring a bottleneck on every single submission.

Can I contribute TD values?

Yes. If you've measured a filament's TD and want to help the community, submit it on the filament's detail page. HueForge Pro members get their submissions reviewed faster and earn Certified Contributor status after 15 accepted corrections. Non-Pro members can still contribute — every data point helps.

What does "Certified Contributor" mean?

A Certified Contributor has earned trust through consistent, accurate submissions. You get certified automatically once you have 15 accepted TD corrections, or immediately if you're an active HueForge Pro member. Certified contributors get a badge on their public maker profile and their submissions carry more weight in the variance checks.

Can I add a new filament that isn't in the index yet?

Yes. On the Filament Index, there's an option to submit a new filament. New filaments and new brands always get admin review before they go live — expect a day or two of turnaround on new submissions.

Is the Filament Index free to use?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Browsing and searching the index is completely free and requires no account. Contributing submissions requires an account so we can track reputation and verify contributors. HueForge Pro members also get My Filament Library — favorites, spools, and a shopping list — plus one-click HueForge Export.

A TD value looks wrong. What should I do?

Submit a correction on the filament's detail page. If your measurement is reasonably close to the existing community mean, it'll be auto-accepted and blend into the average. If it's significantly different, it gets flagged for admin review before affecting the public value.
